Serene Spaces: Reading Nook and Bedroom
Pittsburgh
the details:In this second floor remodel in the Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood, a spare room was transformed into a color drenched multi-functional library and game room. The homeowner wanted to create a calming retreat where she could listen to the rain so we built pocket doors into the room’s custom cabinetry which lead into a cozy reading nook with a built-in platform bed spanning wall to wall and a ceiling full of skylights. The daughter’s bedroom was transformed with vibrant wallpaper, jewel toned cabinetry, and a custom pink bed which was tied into the room with a pop of the same hue on the ceiling. Throughout the project, the design prioritized both function and fun, blending rich colors and modern features with whimsical touches that suited the family’s personality.
Features & Challenges of the Project:To enhance the family’s lifestyle, additional closet space, built-in storage, and pet-friendly features like cat doors and litter areas were incorporated. The entire floor was reconfigured to accommodate these new features, including a relocated laundry area to create a more practical layout.
