Room to Grow : Squirrel Hill Kitchen Addition & Master Bath
Project Details
After extensively searching for a new home to buy, and ultimately deciding that they love their existing home for its location and style and saw no real reason to move, this couple hired Marvista to design and build an addition to their beloved home that would give them their dream kitchen, dream master bath, and allow them to move the laundry room upstairs. Aging in place and creating a kitchen large enough for entertaining and cooking was a priority for this family. As a family that holds weekly, professional gatherings and get-togethers for friends, and a family that has at least one serious chef in the family, this kitchen had to be cooking sufficient and large enough for many people to gather and have lofty conversations. Also important to the couple, was maintaining the arts and crafts feel throughout the house and into the kitchen and exterior of the house. The kitchen has three unified spaces for relaxing and entertaining: seating at island, seating at a peninsula, and seating off to side near the wet bar and coffee zone. The master bath became the space where some of the rules were broken to achieve a spa-like space for owners to relax. After the project was completed, the couple raved about the smoothness and efficiency of the project and the quality of the design, the work, and the install. The couple boasted that Marvista understood immediately what they wanted and how to execute the project and they actually enjoyed the entire project because of the people involved.
