Inspired Farmhouse

Monroeville, PA

the details:

“Shiplap, shiplap, and more shiplap” were the first words the client mentioned to Marvista as we started the design of this project. The client, who is a Joanna Gaines obsessed fan, wanted to take her new home and redefine the spaces, opening up the rooms into an open kitchen and family room space and using farmhouse, magnolia themed decor. Shiplap was used as the backsplash and also wrapped the wood hood above the range in this design. Rustic, repurposed solid wood floating shelves were created by the Marvista team from old railroad ties to add that “wow” factor. Soft neutrals and rustic woods are partnered with found objects, farm themed decor, and, of course, shiplap, to unify the spaces in an open environment.

Features & Challenges of the Project:
  • The main challenge of opening up this space and eliminating three walls surrounding the original kitchen was providing enough structural support inside the ceiling
Materials
  • Painted white shaker cabinets and dark stained hickory shaker cabinets
  • Patterned Quartz top and solid wood railroad tiered shelves custom made in the field
  • Custom fireplace mantel and floating shelves
