Sophistication

Washington Rd. Mt. Lebanon, PA

the details:

This large Italian family wanted a new kitchen that was more efficient, more organized, allowed for customization inside almost every cabinet, and a large island with seating. A classic and sophisticated palette of black and white was chosen and adding bright gold fixtures, faucets, and hardware pulled the rich look together. The most important aspect in the redesign of this project was organizing the kitchen and finding a place for the tv in the space. Our solution, was to go high tech and hide the tv behind the upper bar cabinets when it is not being used, and dropping the tv down on a motorized slide with a remote control when the clients wanted to watch tv from the comfort of their island. The “wow” factor of this kitchen is certainly the 12” molding stack at the top of the cabinets taking the cabinets to the ceiling with a classic, rich sophisticated feel that fits the rest of the gorgeous house.

Features & Challenges of the Project:
  • Venting the hood to the outside was a challenge because of how the house was built
  • We added some structural support for partially opening up the wall for the space
Materials
  • Shaker white painted cabinets on the perimeter and painted black on the island
  • Thick quartz island top (top repeats up the wall as a backsplash behind the range wall)
  • Custom paneled subzero column refrigerator and freezers flank each side of the classic, wolf 48” oven
  • Symmetry is very pronounced in the design of this kitchen
  • Illuminating toe kitchen and under cabinet lighting
